Pest Control is declared essential during the COVID-19 quarantine.

Pest control has been declared an essential service and the industry will continue to operate nationwide. This decision was made due to concerns regarding both pest threats to homes and also due to the need of sanitation and disinfectant equipment and expertise.

How will the pest control industry operate during the quarantine:

I can’t speak for the entire industry, but in general, the vast majority of our job will remain the same. Pest threats come year after year, and they have no plans of abiding by the quarantine.

You probably have found a fresh appreciation for the comfort of your home recently. Naturally, you don’t want to expose it to the risk of pest infestation, especially while you’re stuck at home!

Termites, mosquitoes, ants, and roaches are out in big numbers. With the warm and wet weather, Georgia has seen this year, things are bound to get even worse.

Now, more than ever, it is critical to protect your home against pest infestations.

So that is all staying the same, but what will be different?

For one, we won’t be doing any interior treatments unless absolutely necessary.

This is out of concern for the safety of you and your family as well as our technicians. By minimizing interior treatments, we will reduce the risk of spreading the virus and abide by social distancing guidance.

Most pest threats during this time of the year will be starting outside of the home since cold weather won’t encourage pests to harbor indoors, Instead, you will see more invaders seeking food and moisture.

Preventing these types of threats is most effectively done using an exterior treatment barrier. These treatments will stop pests in their tracks and exponentially reduce pest populations around your property.

We may also be performing disinfectant and sanitation services.

One of the reasons pest control was declared essential is that industry technicians have the equipment and know-how to apply disinfectants on a large scale.

While this typically requires a separate, specialized license, this requirement has been waved temporarily to combat the virus. As of right now, we have not yet been called to perform this service yet, but we stand ready to do so if needed.

My team and I will continue to monitor guidelines from our leaders on this issue and keep you informed as well.

Final note, you’ve been told to wash your hands, but don’t skip out on pest control in your sanitation routine.

In this climate, it is more critical than ever to maintain a clean environment. While they are not known to carry COVID-19, pests still track a variety of bacteria, pathogens, and diseases into your home. These diseases could further weaken the immune system of someone infected with COVID-19.

It is critical that we minimize the spread of all other illnesses and infections as the world works to eliminate COVID-19.

I know that a lot of people, including some of our customers, are struggling right now. These are challenging times, and our community needs to be stronger than ever. If you are concerned about making payments, please give us a call, we are willing to work with you to ease your burden until these hardships have passed.

Wash your hands, stay at home, and let us keep you pest and pathogen-free throughout quarantine and beyond!
